Autochk cannot run due to an error

i noticed some windows updates for my pc earlier today. i tried to download and install them, but the pc kept freezing and i have to do a manual restart. i attempted to update 3 times and had to manually restart each time due to freezing.

i thought it may have been a malware issue, but i did some preliminary scans such as tdss killer, mbam, avast, rogue killer, jrt, and ccleaner, but nothing seemed out of the ordinary.

When i reboot everything loads fine until the chkdisk scan comes up. I receive this error "Autochk cannot run due to an error caused by a recently installed software package.An unspecified error occurred__766f6c756d652e63 3f1"

It's appeared on two startups, fails to scan and then boots into windows normally. I'm not sure what the problem is, but i would appreciate any help or advice.

I ran a cmd > fsutil dirty query c: and received > Volume C is dirty. I haven't done anything from there.

The pc has a
256GB SSD boot drive with 140GB free
a 1TB HDD for applications which has 500GB free
additional 1 TB storage HDDs
32GB RAM
Intel i7 3820 3.6ghz
windows 7 pro 64 bit

no, avast. I already disabled and still had the same problem. I believe this occurred when my PC froze during Windows updates and i did a hard reset.

 

would using the windows 7 pro install disk to run a chkdsk scan from cmd solve the problem? Wouldn't it isolate the c drive and allow me to scan for errors since i'd be running windows off the install disk and the not the c drive?

 

You cannot run Windows 7 off the installation DVD. Head over to Microsoft and follow the instructions.
