I have the same problem. I get a message that says:

Automatic Updates is turned off. Your computer is more vulnerable to viruses and other security threats. Click Turn On Automatic Updated to have Windows automatically keep your computer current with important updates.

When I click on Turn On Automatic Updates I get this message:

We're sorry. The security center could not change your Automatic Updates settings. To try changing these settings yourself, go to System in Control Panel. On the Automatic Updates tab, select Automatic (recommended), and then click OK.

When I go to change these settings it already says that the Automatic Updates are on and is also already checked.

I've tried everything I know to do. Any help would help. thanks

People need to know what version of windows (as well as any service packs you are running).

What is the date of the last update you had? That way, we can tell how long this has been going on.

Thanks poldr....I'm using Window XP with the service pack 3. This happen when I got a virus and I came on this form and we got it all taken care of except for the automatic update not working. It was working prior to the virus. My last update was about two months ago.

If this is true you could just turn off the message....
    Have you manually updated Windows

I generally don't allow programs or MS Windows to auto update, I prefer to be in control of my PCs

You still need to post logs and get an all clear. I do not see your thread. Have a link to your thread with the logs?
