When I try to load new software I get the following error or Autorun just silently stops. "the ntvdm cpu has encoutered an illegal instruction, CS:9fe3 IP:0214 OP:db ff ff db e7 choose close to end" I did upgrade to w/installer 3.1 v2. I have run Antivirus, spybot, adware. Any ideas?

NTVDM is the NT Virtual DOS Machine. It is the program that is used to run 16-bit programs (that is, DOS-based or Windows 3.x-based programs) in Windows NT family operating systems. Are you trying to run an old game like Command and Conquor?

You can try the relevant autoplay fixes here, but an unusal number of NTVDM hits from my searches mentioned spyware. Try running a full scan with Ad-aware with the latest updates.
