Is there any truth to a comment that Avast Home Edition crashes with all ZA 5.0 and higher?
    Thanks

I have read other threads on here, and nothing seems definitive. I'm using XP Pro, and ZA Pro. I'm afraid to install AVAST for fear that there is some known interference that will cause an unrecoverable error. I am a NOVICE! I'm using the latest version of ZA Pro with no problems....I chose AVAST as the best replacement for my expired Norton.

I have used Avast and ZA for about 4 years (with upgrades) together without any problems. I read about the conflict, too, but figured if there was an issue, I would just get another program, but never needed to.

I've used Avast and Zone Alarm Free 5.x/6.x on Win XP Pro and Home for years, and have never had any conflicts between the two programs. Avast works pretty well on Win 98SE also - and if I recall correctly with an older version of ZA (newer versions don't support 98 - at least the free one doesn't that I know of).

I've heard of issues - but never suffered one nor know of anyone who has. All my OS's are updated, as well as Avast and ZA, on a regular basis; which makes me think it could be another program or process that causes the two not to play together well. Just my opinion.

I have used ZA with Avast for many years, on several different OS with no problems whatsoever. When you load Avast to a PC that already has ZA installed it will, at some point, bring up a warning message advising you of the potential for a specific component of the software to clash with ZA, and do you want to install this anyway. I have always said yes and never had any issues. However, if you were to experience issues you could always uninstall Avast and then reinstall it saying "no" to that specific question.

Another thing to note is that the latest V7.0 and upwards of ZA are, IMO, full of bloatware and slow a machine down. I uninstalled this update and went back to V6.0 versions, which are much less cumbersome.

THANK YOU, EVERYONE! This forum is truly excellent. I will now try to install AVAST and see how it works. If I have any problems/conflicts, I will post them here on this thread.
    Again........thank you very much
