Avast Failure To Update Box

I've been getting three or four times today, A red pop-up box, saying Avast failed to update. When I manually go to update, it says it's already updated. Is there a problem on their end? Anyone else having this happen today? If it's possibly on my end, what should I be looking at? Thanks. It's weird. The first time this has ever happened.

that happened to me once with NOD32. The next when I tried to update, it worked fine. I don't know why it ever happened.

 

Try Reinstalling Avast

 

I wouldn't go so far as to try reinstalling. I mean, if you're still unable to update after a couple of days (which I doubt), then I would try that. But if you're eager to get it updated, that's something you could try (reinstalling)

 

Well. I just tried a manual update from the Avast control panel (not the sys tray) and my firewall asked permission (I'd already given it, long ago) so I clicked "allow". As before, when manually updating from the sys tray, the updates were already installed, but from the sys tray, I didn't need to give permission. Weird. I'll give it a bit and see what happens. Looks like it could be a firewall issue but why now? For the time being I'll take the "wait and see" approach. If it happens again, I'll disable Comodo and enable the XP firewall and see what happens. If that's inconclusive, I'll remove/install Avast. I guess it could have become corrupted. Thanks gang.
