I recently updated AVAST (approx 10-15 days ago -- can't remember for sure) and since then I have noticed that my PC has been a bit sluggish. I also recently noticed, after the update that the VRDB icon in always in my tray -- I don't remember it ever being there except when I first installed avast a few years back. I don't know how it went away - it could have always been there but hidden - maybe I needed to click on "Show Hidden Icons" to see it.

I checked my Task Manager and noticed that the CPU usage spikes between 0 and 80/90% on a regular basis.

I have disabled VRDB - seems that other posts have suggested doing that. I am not sure that had any impact on the CPU usage.

Anything sound wrong here to you guys?

Haven’t had any experience with Avast but I would recommend uninstalling, rebooting and then reinstalling.

If this doesn't fix the problem I would suggest trying another AV such as AVG Free.
