    Hi,
I got Avast antivuris, Malwarebytes’ and Spybot Search & Destroy always update. Every few days I scan the pc with all of them (not at the same time)
The thing is that Malwarebyte’s and Spybot never find anything, which make me wonder how effective this programmes are. But in the last couple weeks Avast has found Win32:Netsky-CM, so I delete it with Avast and make a thorough Scan again which shows the pc is clean, during few days scaning with Avast says the pc is clean. However after few days Avast find again the same virus and I repeat the operation.
This makes me wonder; Avast is working properly and every time I got a virus find it or it doesn’t really get rid of the virus and that’s why I find the same virus again after few days?
The Virus always is locate in Outlook Express inbox, so why does Avast On-Access Scanner doesn’t get rid the virus as soon arrive to my inbox? (on the setting I got the option to discard it unconditionally)

    I'd appreciate any comments,
    Regards

Malwarebytes is very effective. Keep it on your computer. It was the first program that could remove the nasty AVXP 2008/2009.

Each spyware/malware/antivirus software application removal tool is designed to target different spyware/malware/antiviruses, so you do right to have a selection of these to run. Because of this, just because one is finding something doesn;t automatically mean the others will too.

The virus you list that Avast is finding is a recognised worm. I would follow Mark Trent's advice and check in to the Malware Forum, working through the cleaning link given.

FWIW - I have used Avast for years and installed it on many computers too. I have as yet to experience a false positive with it. I would think you are either being repeatedly infected through email by one of your contacts who has it, or you are not running Avast enough times to thoroughly clean it from your own system.

Thanks guys for your opinions. I'll do that.
Since I found the virus I’ve run Avast every 3 or 4 days in standard scan, when I find the virus I use to run again a thorough scan.
Lev, how many times do I have to run Avast to clean the pc?

Spybot S&D works for me. It found 4 nasties the other day. I also use Avast with no false positives that I could identify. Bazza

I have to agree with everyone above about MalwareBytes. It has an excellent detection rates and I use it almost daily at work to remove nasties from PCs. However, as far as I know, it doesn't have an email scanner. MBAM and SuperAntispyware are perhaps the bast scanners/removers available. Avast is well known for false positives, which is one reason why I don't use it, that and the talking. I don't know if it still does, but it used to talk to you, and it scared the hell out of me each time it "the virus database has been updated!". :eek

For some reason, I figure it to be, a false positive. As MarkTrent prompted.

I'm Not a malware expert but the exact "worm" -CM only shows up on an Avast site as VPS - No where else . Unless you have a URL. With all due repects to LEV.

Personally, once I get a full clean run at Avast and it detects nothing, I call it good. If another application, like MalwareBytes, finds something, I will run Avast again.
