Avast

Hi all.
I used to use avg but the start up from cold was seriously slow, it used to be great but you know what it's like, it's not broke so....................!
I switched to avast, start up is so much quicker, thing is, quick scan is far from quick.
It can take 3-4 minutes sometimes just to scan a folder, I know it depends whats in it but with avg it was quick, it told you the progress and let you know the result.
Avast sometimes shows the progress but mostly it is on 0% all the way through and it just shuts down without telling you anything.
I take it that means it hasn't found anything.
Is all this normal or do i have a few settings wrong?

Yes, it's all normal. Avast has never been very fast on scanning and I'm hoping v.5 will be better (expected to be released in the next few months).
