    After the 3rd time of trying i have finally got got Avast 5 to download. It will not open or start though. neither the start button or fix this button does anything.
    Kind of at a loss what to do.
    The icon is sat in my tray with a white x over it.
    Any advice appreciated.

    You need to state what Operating system you have, what anti virus you were using before, which coulc be causing an issue if it wasn't properly removed. Did you thoroughly check for malware?

    im using microsoft windows .. i checked for malware wirh malwarebytes and it says im clean ..

    Some of Kestrels questions need a bit more info.

    What version of Windows as in XP, Vista or Windows 7 plus is it 32bit or 64bit?

    What was your previous AntiVirus application? have you uninstalled it already?

    If you wont open, do you get any error messages if so what are they?
