I just got back from seeing 'Avatar' (in 3D). Holy $#^& was that good! I guess I was expecting it to be pretty good because the reviews have been favorable, but omg, it was really great. All I can think of is "Lord of the Rings" great.

Has anyone else see it? Oh, and it was so worth the extra few bucks for the 3D.

I have been DYING to see this!! I knew it would be a hit, and all the TIME it took to make each frame.... damn.. impressive....

The Guy and I were deciding between this movie and Invictus last night. We ended up seeing Invictus instead (and enjoyed it very much), but now we might have to go see this one too. :)

My eyes don't work in sinc so 3D doesn't work for me :(

I think I know the plot though it's just dances with wolves but with smurf people :-D

I know! I saw an interview with James Cameron. They invented technology for this movie. So cool.

You have to have to have to, Mims. So good.

hmmmmm...I have to say I'm not sure about that. Terminator was pretty damn awesome. He has done some amazing movies. This is another of them.

I think they may have taken the smurf people and stretched them a bit too, Rik. Oh, and made them sexy. lol...yes, I actually said that. I'm so ashamed.

My eyes have the same problem, so for me 3D is a waste of money.

Whoa there. Dances with wolves was horrible. :(

No way. Not if it's even remotely like Dances with wolves or Titanic! :puke

The first two Terminator movies, Alien and Aliens, now that would be way better movies to copy-cat with CGI than lame love stories surrounded by horrendously expensive scenery and special effects. :p

I'd LOVE to see Avatar & will at some point. I've only seen one review though, expecting it to be as successful as Titanic........ Not the movie, the ship....

Interesting movie...what struck me was the similarities of the Na'vi to the Balinese type of spiritual affinity with Mother Nature - highly evident with the Balinese style Kecak Dance for trance inducing and ceremonies. Jake Sully's sojournes as a Na'vi reminded me of "Flatliners". It certainly was a remarkable film and most enjoyable. :)

First of all....OMG! Look who's back! LOL Hey LS.

Second, I'm just glad someone else saw the movie and enjoyed it. I have to think James Cameron took some of the idea from different cultures.

An awesome movie that truly had me riveted from start to finish, with breathtaking C.G.I. and non-stop action. A must see for those that haven't seen it, and a must see again for those that have.

Re: L.S.:- Firstly, great to see your posts again:), and yeah, there was somewhat of a similarity to 'Balinese in Space', so to speak.;)

The reason the 3D, for those of us with real eyes ;P, was so awesome is that it wasnt just a gimmick like most movies. It actually helped to draw you into the world. I actually think the glasses needed to be wider since i could still see out of the sides a bit and occasionally id catch the "real world" out of the peripheral vision. Not enough to ruin it but at first it was a bit of a distraction. Sort of like being on the spider man ride at universal and having someone tall sit in front of you, just not quite "right". (youd have had to experience the universal spider man ride to understand).

I thought the movie itself was action packed and kept me interested even with the girlie love story angle ;)

My eyes are a perfect 20/20 and I'm almost 40. Yet I also cannot stand IMAX 3D. I took off those things ( I had to... otherwise, :puke ) after about 10 minutes at the one and only movie I saw in IMAX --- The Polar Express. I also cannot see those magic eye pictures that were popular 10 years ago or so unless I cross my eyes. (Then I see a reverse image :confused)

Some things are not meant to be enjoyed by all, I guess...

Saw 2D Avatar a week or so ago, loved it. Will but it on BluRay, especially if it's in 3d there as well.

He still hasn't gotten those Spock ears I asked him to get 20 years ago. :(

It is 3D that has glasses, but they look like the cheap drug store kids' sunglasses. Not horrible, relatively speaking.

Yay! Glad you liked it Pax! I think they are definitely doing the 3D BluRays now, so you should be good.

after around 50 people telling me how awesome this movie was, i went and saw it in 3D.

it was probably one of the best movies i've ever seen, next to lotr: the two towers or the matrix.

This movie really helped me out. I watched it in 3D during a very difficult time in my life, and although I am still having a hard time, it gave me something else to think about for a while, and for 3 hours I forgot my chronic pain, and I dreamed that some day (probably not in my life) there would be new bodies for people like me who are disabled and in chronic pain. I would give anything to be able to live in a new body like that.
I think JC is a genius and this is one of the best movies ever made. I am a huge fan of this movie now and I love movies to begin with, mostly because of SFX, so this movie was specila, being the first 3D movie I ever saw, it thrilled me. I have written to JC, Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, and my fav. all-time actress, Michelle Rodriguez. I am a collector of celeb autographs, so I spent the weekend after seeing the movie writing handwritten cards to several celebs I've come to love over the past year and sent an SASE hoping I will add a lot to my autograph collection.
I wish I could change so many people for the better like James Cameron has. I wish I were as important and influential as he is. :heart

Quoted for truth. I honestly haven't heard one person that didn't like this movie.

This movie was definitely one to allow you to escape for the 3 hours it was on! Some movies are just too long. This one could have been longer and I'd be okay with that. I'm glad it took you away from the pain you are obviously in.

Seems the MGeeks liked this movie:) Or those that did not are not posting?

My Sis went in a group, for the 2D and walked in and out of the movie a few times, luckily it was in a mall and she went shopping:-D

I was all set to take my brat (who was not too exited) for the 3D on Sunday - but no tickets!

It was a nice hall with huge leather recliners, a sanitized blanket LOL, a great ala carte menu and a even better bar ;) all service by, gorgeous damsels :-D on your private table.

Now I'm wondering if it's worth the money. Might wait for the DVD and watch at home.

    Cheers..

My sis and husband haven't seen it because movies are too expensive for them usually when they have to pay for babysitting for their two kids. I told her I would take them one night just so they could see it in a theater. This is one of those that will still be good on a tv, but you should really see it on the big screen.

Laura I'm gonna take your word for it:)
I'll go for the 3D, but opt out for the leather recliners, fine malt whiskey and snacks ranging from Bb'cued spare Ribs to Chicken tikkas etc served at one's seat:drool

    cheers
