avg download problem

    My daughter has tried to download avg anti-virus. It opens up and starts to download after about a 20 minute run it states it is done and that is it.

    It doesn't seem to install

    She has Windows vista home basic and I believe she is using internet explorer.

    She told me that when it starts to download a box appears with Run or Save
    I thought that the save part would probably be right but not so.

    I have used this program for some time and have not had any problems with it.
    since I am using firefox my downloads done differently.

    Would appreciate help.

    Yes the SAVE dialogue is the right one to do and then double click to RUN from the PC, but as this doesnt seem to be working a few thoughts after the main one in if it installs or seems to reboot to finish off the installation, but do make sure #1 below is correct.

    1. Is an Antivirus already installed on this PC? if so uninstall it, just in case its interfearing with the install process.

    If any error messages are shown during the install please let us know what they are?

    2. Download Firefox and try downloading with that browser just in case the download is becoming corrupt.

    AVG puts a file in your download folder, it will have the AVG logo double click it and follow the instructions
    This is the first time I’ve tried to help anyone in a Major Geeks forum JUST HOPE I’VE DONE THE RIGHT THING.

    Thanks to both. Another question could I could I download ave to a disk and then put in her computer and run it?

    Yes. Though a usb stick/drive would be better than wasting a disk. :)
