I need HELP! I have installed AVG Free Edition, and although it scans and tells me that I have 4 trojan horses, I can't seem to get them into the vault to remove them. What good is it if it lets me know that I am infected, but can't quaranteen or remove them. Am I missing something?

    Thank you

Try running a scan in Safe Mode.

That helps Chuddds, did someone spit in your food today? Keep that attitude up and you will make many friends.
Next time a person makes a mistake during their very first trip to this site, you should refrain from replying. I don't think you are a moderator, and I'll bet your PC is loaded with bugs from visiting strange and disgusting blind links.

mtrmthxx...try asking the question in the anti-virus forum. You won't find much about AVG here.

Sometimes when AVG can't get rid of the Trojans it finds,it's because they are hiding in system restore.Try purging your system restore points.

There are many cases where a variety of malware (that includes viruses, trojans, hijackers etc) can be detected but not removed. This happens with all AV and spyware removal tools. In some cases you can boot in safe mode and re-run the scan and it may be removed. In other cases, you can manually boot into safe mode and delete the files yourself but you may need to terminate any related running processes first. If you are having problems that you need help resolving work your way thru the steps below.

Run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ ME FIRST BEFORE ASKING FOR SUPPORT: Basic Spyware, Trojan And Virus Removal Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.

    - Very Important: Make sure you tell us the results from running the tutorial...was anything found? Were you unable to complete any of the scans?...Were you unable to download any of the tools?...Did you do the on-line scans as suggested? etc.

After doing ALL of the above you still have a problem:

    - Download HijackThis 1.99.1

    - Unzip the hijackthis.exe file to a folder you create named C:\Program Files\HJT

    - Do NOT run Hijack This from the Desktop, a temp folder, or a sub-folder of C:\Documents and Settings, or choose to run it directly from the downloaded ZIP file.

    - Before running HijackThis: You must close each of the following:your web browser, e-mail client, instant messenger, and programs like notepad, wordpad, MS Word etc. And any other unnecessary running programs.

    - Run HijackThis and save your log file.

    - Post your log as an ATTACHMENT to your next message. (Do NOT copy/paste the log into your post).
