AVG grisoft virus protection...

ok so i've chosen this program to protect my computer because recently we bought Trend Mircro's protection and it was nothing but trouble. seems the trend micro software put a virus on our computer that when the trend micro removed it as soon as we rebooted it was back. not to mention it wouldn't allow us to connect to the net. no i'm having a simialar issue with my computer. and AVG hasn't picked anything up, neither has the f-bot.exe. i use both explorer and mozilla for browsers and both of them are not allowing me to connect to Mcafee or to a few other virus protection sites. i only wanted to connect to them to look up a file i was emailed earlier today (i didn't download this file but i do have outlook as my mail which i know can be leaky) anyway the file was called "make.rar" i recently ran msconfig and found a couple things strange in my start up and services lists. one being "rarvd" frpm an unknown manufacturer, i unselected it along with this other i found to be unfamilar an restarted ... "etytojacu.exe" the other one i'm curious about is "gosoxo.exe" in my SYSTEM32 file.
not sure how to deal with this really as i'm a novice, i know my way around a computer by trial and error but that's it. i'm running WIN2kprofessional. anyhelp you could give me please email me ASAP. this thing doesn't seem to be doing any harm but it could be... thanks
