    Hi all,

A few days ago I started having all sorts of problems. To sum the most important ones up:

    - AVG constantly gives me error messages. When I run an AVG scan, it crashes after a few minutes.
    - IE crashes on random moments.
    - Firefox crashes on random moments.

I'm also getting an occasional blue screen and my dekstop also just hung one time, showing me a blurry screen with just one solution: a cold reboot.

I'd like to exclude the possibility of malware causing this. The reason I'm suspecting that this may be malware, is that I saw an error message about "1.exe", which apparently can be malware.

In attachment you can find all the requested logs.

Hopefully someone can take a look at this and see if there's a malware problem on my pc, or if I need to take further steps and reinstall Windows.

    Thanks a lot in advance!!

    Tom

Please disable all anti-virus and anti-spyware programs while we do the following (re-enable when you are finished):

Run C:\MGtools\analyse.exe by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator). This is really HijackThis (select Do a system scan only) and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:

    • O2 - BHO: Frostwire Toolbar BHO - {46575637-0076-A76A-76A7-7A786E7484D7} - "C:\Program Files\AskPartnerNetwork\Toolbar\FWV7\Passport.dll" (file missing)
    • O3 - Toolbar: Frostwire Toolbar - {46575637-0076-A76A-76A7-7A786E7484D7} - "C:\Program Files\AskPartnerNetwork\Toolbar\FWV7\Passport.dll" (file missing)
    • O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ApnTBMon] "C:\Program Files\AskPartnerNetwork\Toolbar\Updater\TBNotifier.exe"
    • O6 - HKCU\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Restrictions present
    • O6 - HKLM\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Restrictions present
    • O23 - Service: Ask-updateservice (APNMCP) - APN LLC. - C:\Program Files\AskPartnerNetwork\Toolbar\apnmcp.exe

    After clicking Fix exit HJT.

Delete these if you see them:

    C:\Program Files\AskPartnerNetwork
    C:\ProgramData\AskPartnerNetwork

Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it. (Right click and run as admin if using Vista, Windows7 or Win8) Then attach the new C:\MGlogs.zip file that will be created by running this.

Let me know of any problems you may have encountered with the above instructions and also let me know how things are running now!

Thanks a lot for your reply! I have followed the steps you provided, but unfortunately it didn't seem to work. My computer just froze on me again and IE crashed too when I tried to open this website. My weekly scheduled backup also failed, something that has never happened before.

One step didn't fully work though: after hitting "fix" and doing a new scan, this line still showed up:

    O23 - Service: Ask-updateservice (APNMCP) - APN LLC. - C:\Program Files\AskPartnerNetwork\Toolbar\apnmcp.exe

Right now it says the file is missing though, since I physically deleted it from C:/Program Files/AskPartnerNetwork.

Is there something else that might cause all programs to crash?

The AskParnter junk came from installing this >> Frostwire Toolbar
It should be uninstalled and perhaps uninstalling the main program for Frostwire too would be a good idea.

I tend to doubt this has anything to do with the PC freezing but it could be impacting browsers.
