AVG question

Hello, I have been using Avg anti-virus and have not have any problems myself yet, I am starting to see some anti Avg. I looking around I see that "StopZilla" seems to have a good virus/malware package.

Looking for comments.

 

If you are looking to replace AVG, lots of people here use Avira AntiVir.

 

I would heed Kestrel.
They know crap when it is seen.

 

In addition to an anti-virus program, I would also download and install Malware Bytes shareware (free) edition:

Recently, I've come across malware that's been able to sneak past a litany of programs including AVG, Windows Defender and McAfee (browser redirects and the fake "Your PC has a virus - click here" pop-ups). The best practice is to run a full scan once you've installed it and at least a quick scan at least once a week or sooner if you think something creepy got in.

Although a bit off-topic, if you find and remove malware, always go immediately to your browsers (IE8, Mozilla, etc.) and clear all history (offline files, history, cookies, etc.). I ran into a browser redirect malware today that kept reinfecting the PC until I cleaned out both IE8 and Mozilla.
