AVG states backdoor.generic.qs trojan

    I ran a file from awithin a RAR and it was this trojan.
    I lost my Start Menu(back again by selectinq quick launch and then resizing), but my taskbar with al programs is still gone.
    Also Network properties show no icons.
    Most of my services are not started but at automatic.
    Trying to start RPC gives me error 193: 0xc1
    Trying to start DCOM Server process launcher gives me the same.

    Kerio Firewall did stop something trying to do something to Internet Explorer when I launched the trojan(obviously) but the trojan must have got into other parts of the system and wrecked rings round it!

    Spybot shows nothing now. AVG Real time did not get it when I executed it from within the RAR file so I have no faith in that.

    I cannot start spyware doctor or install msi apps becuase I think they depend on RPC!

    Log file is attached but I see nothing in it.


    Can anyone help please?

    Sorry it took so long to answer but we are incredibly busy lately. Malware is definitely not taking a summer vacation.

    Please follow our standard cleaning procedures which are necessary for us to provide you support. Also there are steps included for installing, running, and posting HijackThis logs as attachments.
    • Run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ & RUN ME FIRST Before Asking for Support
    • Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.
    • Very Important: Make sure you tell us the results from running the tutorial...was anything found? Were you unable to complete any of the scans?...Were you unable to download any of the tools?...Did you do the on-line scans as suggested? etc.
    • After doing ALL of the above you still have a problem make sure you have booted to normal mode and run the steps in the below link to properly use HijackThis and attach a log:
    • When you return to make your next post, make sure you attach the following logs and that you have run these scans in the following order too (these scans are covered in steps 6 & 7 of the READ & RUN ME sticky)
      • Bitdefender
      • Panda Scan
      • HijackThis
