avg update failure

My AVG free edition has been acting up when i try to update the database etc.. it starts to update but then i get this message, "Update Failed. The connection with the update server has failed" I have followed all the steps to resolve this issue and i have had no luck. Ive even tried to uninstall and reinstall the program but still its not updating. My connection to the server is fully functional so im stumped on this one any input would be greatly appreciated

I find that happens from time to time-- perhaps their free edition update servers are overloaded. Just waiting and trying again later always seems to work. I assume you are having no other apparent internet connectivity problems?

I had a problem with only one computer (windows 2000 running on all of them). It took me awhile and some posting at the AVG forum to find the cause. One of the upgrade versions had a bug that only affected windows 2000 provided the hd was partitioned FAT32 - bingo!
The solution was to go into Tool, Advanced Settings, Update, manage and use button then to delete all the temp update files in there.
This probably is not the problem you are experiencing but if it lasts more than a few days, go to the AVG forum and ask for help. The volunteers there, like here, are very good.
