avi to dvd help needd

    I have an AVI file that says it is DVDR, when I check properties it says: VLC media file (.avi) (.avi)

    Plays fine on the computer, but I do not know how to make it into a DVD for use on a DVD player.

    I burned a DVD of it, it will play on the computer, but no where else.

    I have no idea of what I don't know about this stuff, any advice appreciated...
