I recently scanned my laptops with Avira as I felt Trend Micro was no longer doing the job. I found a couple of items that required cleaning. However after scanning again I got a warning regarding one of the files that had contained a Trojan:

"C:\WINDOWS\system32\SsiEfr.exe [Warning] The file could not be opened!"

I got the same warnings for hiberfil.sys and pagefile.sys and thanks to Plodder's response to another post I added those two to the exclusion list on Avira.

Should I just do the same with this file? It appears to be an MSDOS exe of some sort.

That is a SpySweeper file. Do you have it installed?

It's not working for you? I actually have had it for years and like it, but I mainly use it for the shields, which I love. It has also alerted me as far as an attack when Avira has not.

SpySweeper is okay. It does detect some things.
I wonder why this file is locked after the malware removal?
