    hi all.

i have a slight problem where i had to reinstall avira personal. Now after taking 15 mins to do the first updates it tells me i need to reboot to carry on. I have rebooted loads of times but every time i go back into the update section the same message appears and it wont update. Im running windows 7 home premium on a hp 6735s. I am also running AVG internet security and have been running both for a while with no probs. it seemed to be very effective. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling it but it just keeps happening. I have run anti-virus and malware tests and it shows nothing.

    Please help

    Andy

    Hi

Just remove Avira as you have AVG Internet Security and while they may have been working ok once, its not advisable to run two live scanning Antivirus applications at once as you may get speed of system issues as both AVs are trying to scan a file, and you can gain weird crashes and issues due to two AVs running.

Malware scans of your PC will likely show nothing but if you where to remove AVG and then reinstall Avira, its likely to work, but then if you install AVG again it may not, while it worked once it could be that one of the updates to one of those applications has cause the other to fail, this is as I was mentioning why its not good practice to run two AVs

If you need a backup scan then run the free on demand scanner of Malwarebytes or run one the online Antivirus scans listed HERE

thenk you. your right. i shouldnt have both running at once really. I have the AVG internet security paid version and avira free, but avira still seems to pick up so much more than avg, unless avira are just more picky with what they detect. Also, do you suggest AVG firewall or Windows firewall?

    Thanks

    Hi

As you have the AVG Internet Security package then go with the AVG Firewall.

Use the online scans like Bitdefender or Kasperskys are good backups, wont interfear with AVG.
