AVIRecomp - AVI compression utility

I stumbled across this program AVIRecomp while surfing tonight, and I was wondering.... what is it? I went to their web site and read the FAQs and whatnot, but I couldn't figure out why anyone would use this unless they needed to do something with subtitles in an AVI video clip. Did I miss something? Is there any reason other than subtitles to use AVIRecomp? I do quite a bit of video encoding/transcoding/recoding, and I'm just wondering if this is something that will make my life easier. I've gotten by for years without it, but maybe I'm missing out on something great.....
