About two or three days ago, whenever I turned on my PC (Windows XP) and logged in, my Norton Internet Security ('09) would pop up with an alert, saying they had found the Backdoor.Graybird trojan, but couldn't clean it, quarantine it, or anything. Is it a false alarm or is there an actual virus? But other than those Norton alerts, don't see anything else that's out of the ordinary or different.
I just went through the READ & RUN ME cleaning process, hopefully I got it right, hoping you guys can find something in the LOGS? Thank you!

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

Where exactly is it being reported? Was it just in System Restore? If so, toggle system restore off and on.

What do you have installed from AhnLab? Is it a securty program? If so, it should not be installed while Norton is installed.

You need to uninstall and delete all illegal software like the below which are one of the largest causes for infected PCs:
    C:\SW\PC BUG DOCTOR V3.0.3.8\KEYGEN\KEYGEN.EXE
    C:\SW\SUPERANTISPYWARE PRO 4.22.1014+KEYGEN[H33T]MASTERUPLOADER\KEYGEN\KEYGEN.EXE

Also you need to read our polices on things like this. See this: Warning about Keygens, Cracks, and other Illegal Software

    Hi Jenn,

This is Mike from the Norton Authorized Support Team.

First, follow the instructions and read the information that "chaslang" has posted regarding your logs, etc.

In regards to the "Backdoor.Graybird" infection that Norton Internet Security 2009 is reporting, it could be that some of the infected files are residing in one of your restore points, and there could also be some registry changes that the infection made that need to be manually changed. Please carefully follow the instructions in the following document to properly update and scan your computer and reverse the changes that were made in the registry by the "Backdoor.Graybird" infection.

    Remove the Backdoor.Graybird Trojan

Please let me know if this process removes the infection for you or if you are still alerted by Norton.

    Thank you,
    Mike
