I want to maintain frequent off-site backups. Rather than backing up to an external hard drive or DVD and then carry the discs to a storage location, I'd like to do it over the internet. I don't want my personal data on some public "upload your files to us" service. Want I want to do is put a server at my dad's house and use it for my purpose. The first thing that comes to mind is FTP. Are there any backup programs that can backup and restore from an FTP server? If not FTP, are there any other options that would serve my purpose?

One thing to remember is that (usually) uploading of your backup data is a hell of a lot slower than whatever speeds you are getting in downloads. :cry :( Bazza
