Bad Hard Drive

    I have been experiencing problems with my external hard drive. I can not do a full formatt with out it getting stuck at 57%. Is there a way I can check it to see if it is bad. Check disk will not finish and gets stuck. Please help not sure what is going on here! Drive is a Maxtor 80GB Quickview ATA/133 HDD.
