I originally posted this in the software forum. Below are the first two posts, after that I came here.

<I keep getting a bad image message, on everything. I click OK and it goes on with whatever I clicked on. This started on the 30th. I use windows XP home edition.
I did read another thread with this problem but they were using Vista and I wasn't sure if the fix mentioned would do for an XP user also.
Thanks for any help you might have, Nancy

This is the link to what it says when I open paint. I can open IE without the warning message, but not Monzilla. Most seems to be non-windows applications, but not all (figuring paint is a windows application that is). No, I haven't done a system restore as of yet, saving that as a last resort.
    Thanks, Nancy>

I ran the sticky and I think it fixed the problem, I could not open the computer in safe mode, haven't checked since I ran the rest of the sticky. But will do so shortly. I would like someone to take a look and make sure all the problems are fixed or if I have one I don't know about.

I use XP home, AVG is my anti virus, zone alarm is my firewall, I use spy guard. Computer is set up to do regular maintenance. Here are all the logs unless I missed one, that last one had more than one log and I could have missed on, let me know. I will have to do one more in this thread since I have 7 logs.

    Thanks, Nancy

You need to attach the below logs requested in the READ & RUN ME. You should not be attach individual logs from inside the MGtools folder. This was stated in the instructions. Please attach the below logs:
    • Malwarebytes
    • C:\MGlogs.zip - which is the correct and only log we want from MGtools

    Your logs are clean.

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware. Unless you purchase them, they provide no protection. They do not use any significant amount of resources ( except a little disk space ) until you run a scan.
    2. If we had you use ComboFix, uninstall ComboFix (This uninstall will only work as written if you installed ComboFix on your Desktop like we requested.)
      • Click START then RUN and enter the below into the run box and then click OK. Note the quotes are required
      • "%userprofile%\Desktop\combofix" /u
        • Notes: The space between the combofix" and the /u, it must be there.
        • This will uninstall ComboFix and also reset hidden files and folders settings back to Windows defaults.
    3. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    4. If we had you download any registry patches like fixme.reg or fixWLK.reg (or any others), you can delete these files now.
    5. If running Vista, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    6. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis.
    7. Goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    8. If you are running Vista, Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
      • Refer to the cleaning procedures pointed to by step 6 of the READ ME for your Window version and see the instructions to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
      • Then reboot and Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.
    9. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:

Thank you so much, I do think it was the combofix that got whatever it was. At least the problem went away after it removed something and restarted the computer.
    Thanks again, Nancy

    You're welcome.

SUPERAntiSpyware, Malwarebytes and ComboFix all removed problems. ;)
