This computer keeps freezing up after running for anwhere from 5-20 minutes!! I thought it was a software issue, but....upon using my handy dandy little PSU tester...it's showing a dead yhr -5v rail as dead...so as we all know, faulty PSUs can cause instability!!

So anyway....cutting to the chase...does anyone know FOR SHURE if these power supply in the Gateway 500XL LTD, are proprietary or not?? I have a couple of spare PSU's in the corner of the room, but they are third party/aftermarket (whatever you want to call them), and I don't want to take the chance of frying the mobo because the rails are mounted different...etc., etc., etc.!!

    Any thoughts on the matter??

I found out from gateway themselves...that an aftermarket is compatible!!
