There are, of course hundreds of utilities out there that will tell you how fast your internet connection is, but that's not what I'm looking for.

Is there a bandwidth meter that tells you how much of your bandwidth is being used by a given app?

    Which OS are you using?

Sorry about that. I usually include a header, but my brain is mushier than usual tonight.

    XP Pro, SP3.

Try TCPView from Sysinternals/Microsoft, it's tiny, free and it might do enough for you to get a handle on what anything on your machine is connecting to and how much traffic there is.

    Thanks. I'll check it out.

    I installed TCPView.

Assuming you are familiar with the program, is there a way to tell what percentage of resouces (bandwidth) a given app is using? Like how much is this download costing the system? That's what I'm looking for.

Not without using a sundial and abacus ;)

You'll need something a little more complex for that - but I can't think of one offhand.

EDIT: BWMeter may be able to do it - filter by Application. Looks like it's a demo not free though.

    Hi JimLL

Try this one as I use it and it will list applications that use the internet and what bandwidth they have used. I tend to use it to troubleshoot what apps are using the internet when users are reporting activity they dont know, but its a good monitor and will list hourly/daily/monthly and yearly usage.

    NetLimiter

Pro version has more features if you want to go into alot of depth, but the free version is worth testing to see if it will suffice.
