    Thanks :)
i have since been informed that this battery is no longer available worldwide :(
However i have found a specialist in the UK who has not only been able to repair my unit but also by a miracle has managed to get a battery of his old stock to come to life :cool so am well pleased

If your in to mini disc players the aiwa was a wonderful sounding player so if you see one in good condition expect to pay around £50 for it and snap it up
The players themselves have a sidecar added to them so when the main battery dies you can just stick a AA in the side

Sorry, but that is really a dead technology now days. When doing the search, I was trying to see if the flat packs, that has the dc adapter on the end, that you used to be able to purchase a few years ago, to use as back up power, but was not able to find.
