Battle-Chess/Abandonware Download(s)?

Anyone familiar with this game, and/or this website, http://www.myabandonware.com/game/battle-chess-et (created by utopiaweb to replace the former oldware.net) - please?

I can't seem to find any sort of "suggestions" on what ages this might be appropriate (and not appropriate) for (asking in reference to my '11-going-on-19 year old' son!).

Wow, that's pretty cute...and neat! But quite dated I suppose...not sure if this would work for him long-term, but certainly seems no harm in introducing him, perhaps to help pique is interest in the game (and history perhaps) of chess!

It is an old game, make no mistake. There are newer re-releases of it, but as an introduction to chess, it's a good one. Personally, I always suspected this game is where J.K. Rowlings got the idea for Wizard's Chess...

 

It does run faster on a modern machine. If I remember correctly about the only time you see simulated blood is when the King takes someone out, but it's been a few years since I've played that game.

I love chess, but don't have anyone to play against and the windows chess has gotten boring, I'm gonna check it out now.
