Been Using 'file Explorer' Getting Sick Of It Need Better

- needs ctrl t to open new tab like in chrome and other things
- a basic usable 'file explorer' needs to have this basic thing
- needs to show what file type it is right in the 'file name'

i think that's it for now
other than that a clean minimalist ui preferred

You aren't using it properly. Take a good look at the options in View > Options.

 

I've been using "Classic Shell" instead of Windows Explorer (or whatever it's called these days) and have had absolutely no problems with it. Then I downloaded and installed "Open Shell" and that didn't work out too well, so I went back to "Classic Shell". You might want to give that a try...

 

I made the switch to Directory Opus a while back and have loved every minute of it. The program is infinitely customizable and is a true workhorse in that it can do so many things that Explorer could never do. Check it out... its a tad expensive, but worth every damn penny!

for me, for the last 20 years, when i work on my window computers, i do everything with
altap salamander, i never open up windows explorer. it's not free, but like the post above,
when you find a piece of software that you love, it's worth every single penny spent.
