Besides myself. Who else here brews their own beer?

Anyway, I'm racking my bottles this sunday. A nice generic California IPA.

Next week I'll be brewing fire in the hole. A mini-mash from morebeer.com.

Fairly inexpensive to start. You can spend anywhere from $60 for a basic kit, to about $360 for a keg kit.

I went for the middle of the road. I have about $200 in equipment. Next year, I expect to start kegging.

There are many recipies out there. Ranging from $15 to $30. All of these equal out to about 5.5 gallons of beer. Equivalent to 48 bottles.

Of all the Major Geeks that are here, I'll be surprised if I'm the only one here who brews.

    Two sites to look at.....

    www.morebeer.com

    and

    www.northernbrewer.com

BTW, I recently just started brewing. So, I have a long long ways to go, to become a fanatic home brewer.

I don't know if I qualify to be called a brewer since I use extracts. It's much better tasting than the generic crap out there.

I used to be heavy into it. I doubled the sugar content and made some kickass brew.
Try a good honey weiss or a red ale they are great

my grandfather tried it once... just because the price of Meisterbrau or PBR became too expensive. Let's just say it was a failed experiment.

You don't know my grandfather. He'd have cases of that stuff stacked up in the basement from when it when on sale for a nickle cheaper. Kept every one counted too.... got busted when I was a kid stealing one of them. LOL.

Wish we could get a 6 pack for the equivalent of USD$2.50. Here a slab/carton of 24 is around AUD$33 and 6 packs are around AUD$8-$10, or USD$6 approx. Bazza

PS: When I was in the States, many many years ago, 6 packs of beer were cheaper than that world famous cola. Baz

Well Bazza... Pabst Blue Ribbon is one of the cheapest beers you can get here in the states, and as you can tell by the price, it's not the best tasting brew... other cheap beers of equal value would probably be Red Dog, Milwuakee's Best, Gennesse, Schaeffer's, Busch, etc etc...

6 packs of your standard premium beer (Budweiser's, Coors, Yuengling) are probably around $5-6.... so perhaps it's not much different than in Australia... the imported beers usually sell for around $7 a six pack, or $11-13 a 12-pack...
