A Northeaster Louisiana City is finally allowing people to purchase beer on Sunday.

I live in California now, but I’ve live in Kansas, Missouri, and Georgia that all had “Blue Laws”….If your at a bar, last call for the night is quarter to 12:00 midnight….and stores that sell off site, stop sale’s for the week….wobbles

 

Yep, that would be the 'blue laws'. Before, I think, 1985 the only places open were food places, a few gas stations, and the grocery store. But, you could only buy food. No booze, or if I am remembering correctly, you could not even buy a pair of socks! I am not kidding, there was a list of stuff you could not buy... in 1985!

In '85 or '86, we had the horrors of a mall that wanted to be open 7 days a week. Trust me, this was a big issue, obviously the devil's work!

I think bigbazza summed it up the best. This area is being brought into the 20'th century kicking and screaming.

I could write a long rant about this, but I won't. It is a strange place to live. I have lived in Birmingham Alabama, Los Angeles area, and other parts of LA. Why I am still here, I do not know.

In Australia (I live in NSW) we've been selling alcohol on Sundays since I don't remember and our legal drinking age is 18 yrs old. But get this... your child can drink legally under 18 at home under parental supervision eg while having a family BBQ!! And the powers that be complain about our under age drinking problem. Huh? confused I remember getting a 'shandy' (beer and lemonade) at 9 yrs old - yes some time ago.

 

Now Saturday evening Beer sales are going to drop

Kansas its been 1:30 am for last call and bars close at 2 about 5 years that i am postive about and according to my parents 15 that they can remember. Also some counties have approved sunday sales as well.

 

In my area establishments can sell alcohol on Sundays if they also serve food ("Yes, I'd like half a fritter and three cases of Miller . . . LOL) We gotta bunch of "Bar and Grills" . . .

You still can't go to a regular liquor store or even a Krogers, etc. and buy booze on Sundays or major holidays.

So remember, folks "Don't snooze - stock your booze!"

 

Lucky people that we are in England, alcohol is sold every day and stores have been opening on sundays for ages!

 

I remember going to grandparents farm in SW Missouri, and playing hell on buying beer. Even NA when it was introduced. Funny thing though, In a couple of towns, you could walk across the street and buy it. Got to love the "Bible Belt". Now all I have to do is, get in the car or truck and drive a minimum of 9 miles to get my daily dose of "Barley Pop". I love living in the country. I never understood why I ever lived "IN" a city.

 

I haven't kept up with current events that much, but I do remember that the Georgia Legislature was going to have limited sales of alcohol on Sundays. I don't know if that's a law now or what, but I'd think not since my girlfriend works for a supermarket since I'd know by then.
