befaster download i got from this site had a virus

Most likely just a false positive. Are you saying it detected this in the downloaded file or after you installed it? Do you have log showing what was found?

I don't see Avast reporting a keylogger. I see it falsely reporting Win32:Trojan-gen which may just be a detection of the compression algorithm used to pack the executable files. In addition the kind of features that BeFaster provides could cause a number of scanners to falsely flag possible suspicious behavior. The program is not infected and it is not showing in your log as a keylogger.

 

I already installed it and have no problems! I do not detect a keylogger and as I stated. Some scanners will detect things in the application while many others will not. The same is true for dozens if not hundreds of applications.

The keyloggers mentioned in your logs are from things you installed and have nothing to do with n Befaster. For example:

Are you going to new notify Google that their webaccelerator is a keylogger? What about your game? Is it also a keylogger?

 

You don't seem to be getting the message! This progam is not a keylogger nor is it malware. The scan you are doing is detecting the built-in functions of BeFaster as an issue due to the nature of what these functions can do. Examples, items in purple are descriptions of the programs features:

• You can configure settings manually or program can automatically configure them for you. - this can be viewed as any number of suspicious things since it will be changing settings on your PC.
• Its live update property will make you informed about the new versions. - This can be viewed as a trojan downloader
• You can share your custom settings with your friends by using Records Function. - this can be viewed as keylogging

I don't know what else to tell you. If you don't trust the program then uninstall it and don't use any programs that do similar things since it would lead to similar detections.

 

Not until you said it has a virus in it. Then I installed both versions just to double check and I have no problems. However I also did not change anything with the program since I have no need to change any of my settings.

 

I doubt you will notice any significant improvement from using this.....especially on dialup.
