Before i use the Malware guide!

Hi,

I've been sent to this thread because i've lost options in my display due to a virus that i now have nearly got rid of, the last bit is sat in registy. :cry

Just a few questions before i do the Malware guide:

For the MSconfig bit i've never altered how my computer starts up so do i still need to do that bit?

I saw in other threads people using spybot, i don't use that programme does it matter?

Can i leave the guide open to follow the steps or do i need to shut all programmes down as i don't have a printer?

I download a malware programme yesterday and after i restarted my computer i didnt just have the malware i choose it came up with malware 2008 which i have read on another site as being a fake is this true?
