I honestly hate it when I'm made a fool of. Whether it's just not knowing something in an honest way, or because someone didn't communicate clearly previously, now I look like an idiot.

    Case and point:

Received email from HR that someone had been let go. They said they would send an email out the next day (today) about it. I was told to disable user accounts, etc. We have a policy that when we are told to do this to secure the equipment.

So i disabled the accounts and picked up the laptop today. Next thing I know, my system admin is saying that i caused a panic in that department because not only did they let that person go, but another person was let go this morning. Essentially, the HR department didn't want me to pick up the equipment until after that announcement was made. However, this was not expressly requested, nor was it implied in the original email.

Now I'm walking around the office today and I can feel people looking at me like "wow, what an insensitive turd bag."

I hate this kind of stuff.

HR should get its act together, an e-mail is fine to alert you but a call to let you know when to retrieve the equipment is best. You didn't do anything wrong but you sure paid the price for it.

I hate situations like that and I totally understand it can be infuriating, it sounds similar to the two boss situation when they contradict each other, two separate sets of orders and whichever you choose you end up looking like the idiot.

Hi motc7, Sounds like you were doing exactly what they told you to do. I don't think yo did anything wrong either. Hopefully, it will all blow over, and things will get back to normal for you.

Motc7, I don't see where you did anything wrong. Maybe you should disable a couple of accounts and laptops in HR... ;)

"Oh wait! Active Directory IS important? Whoops:-D"

You seem to have the same opinion of HR as Michael Scott from The Office

I know 'The Office' is a sitcom, but other than that, you lost me. My thoughts are that HR should have informed Motc7 if they wanted anything but SOP on the termination.

I have heard that show is pretty good, originally English?? Might see if I can find some online video. :cool

Well, some good came out of this.

The HR person said they had a department wide meeting and sure enough, someone thought I was being an insensitive bastard. Well, she stood up and said "Don't put any blame on Hunter, because he was doing his job. It was my fault in that I didn't communicate clearly what I wanted to happen."

She told me this yesterday and even apologized. I thought that was top class of her.

Glad they stepped up and took the blame. Maybe you can just temporarily suspend her account... :-D

    Seriously, that is good news.

I thought of changing her desktop to the following background and remove her rights to change it.

but aye, it is good to see there are some people left in the world today who have, shall we say, the cajones to take responsibility.

Also, I didn't act like an arrogant arse either. We just worked out a plan to understand what to do in the future. It's all good and I'm still dead sexxay.
