    Hi all;
    I have a glitchy whitebox intel P4 running Windows ME. I bought it on eBay and I don't have the os disk. Microsoft has been supporting it. I have 4 instances of beovens!generic i can't get (restore cabs?). I tried following the other forums but I couldn't quite follow and had some difficulty trying to delete things after I checked 'fix checked' in hijack this. I could really use some guidance...
    I'm ignorant in many areas... you might have to spell it out for me...
    I tried to follow MajorAttitudes' requests as much as possible... I hope i didn't forget anything...
    It had been running CA (Computer Associates) AV prog bundled with Verizon Yahoo DSL, but I turned it off and have Kaspersky loaded at the moment. I wasn't sure if it was on a server somewhere as a scanner or on my CPU... I added the HJT log and deleted the Kaspersky then turned the CA AV back on...
    Thanks, wayne

    beovens!generic on WindowsME additional scans

    hi;
    i couldn't figure out how to get online in safe mode, so these were done on Normal. I forgot to add that I had just set my two kids up w/ profiles on this cpu before i thought to run the AV software. I'm going to delete thier profiles and set up again after this is all resolved.
    Thanks,
    w

    Welcome to Majorgeeks!

    Other than the fact that you have two antivirus applications installed (a big no no), I see no problems.

    Uninstall one of the antivirus applications. There is no such thing as turning them off. Look in your HJT log and you will see both of them running.

    If you are seeing infections using some scanner, post the log from what it is finding.

    Hi;
    The beovens!generic positive was coming from my DSL providers bundled AV service (Computer Associates) and it appeared to be limited to the restore cabs. I wanted to make sure the log was clean before I reset. Thanks for looking things over; I really appreciate it. I reset today and the scan comes up clean now. Thanks again.
    Now to deal with my 14 yr.old sons laptop... that shows 4-5 viruses...
    I'll start a new thread, of course!
