    Hi

I was hit by cryptowall and lost my pictures, documents and videos. I have tried out a couple of data recovery trials such as easeUs, and I can get some of my stuff back. Could someone who has used this type of software please advise me as to which program may be the best to purchase?

Sorry I can't answer the question about the Best Data Recovery Software because we haven't lost data. You might want to look over these programs

First we rarely store only 1 copy of something on the computer. Get in the habit of storing copies of pictures, documents and videos off the computer (not on a portable hard drive always connected to the computer because that will be trashed too). If something happens, (malware or even a hard drive crash) then you still have all your files. In fact, files that I particularly do not want to lose, I make 3 or 4 copies on CDs, flash drives, sd cards, portable hard drives.
When I first taught my husband how to use a computer, floppies were the storage unit. I had him make 2 copies on two different floppies. It did come in handy when a floppy would suddenly go bad. He still had a working copy and immediately made a copy of the good floppy so he had 2 copies. Today he has moved to USB sticks. He puts his files on two different USB sticks.

Next learn how to image. I make images of our four computers once a month, immediately after I do the Windows updates and patches. I then keep a note card on anything that has been updated (like a browser) since I made the image.

If I got hit by something like you have, I'd restore the image (I run a the program from either a CD or a USB stick and it loads into RAM so Windows never is involved) then do the few updates and I'd be back in business in under an hour.
