best dvd converter?

What is the best converter to use to convert media files to files that play in a dvd player? I have tried converting my avi file on Cucosoft and Nero, and wasted 2 discs.

 

Try Divx to DVD http://majorgeeks.com/DivxToDVD_d4408.html . It will convert the AVI to a DVD compliant files (VOB, IFO, and BUP files) which you can burn with Nero Burning ROM (select DVD-Video and put all of them into the Video_TS folder and burn to disc. The file or the discs you are using may be the problem, as it is unusual that two different programs would have the same problem.

No, they have a different file system. With Nero, and maybe Cucusoft (I've never used it, check the help file), you can make a Video CD, which works in most DVD players.

 

Okay, I converted the files. Now I have VIDEO_TS.BUP, VIDEO_TS.IFO, VTS_01_0.BUP, VTS_01_0.IFO, VTS_01_1.VOB, and VTS_01_2.VOB.

Which of these do I put on the burner to make a vcd? If It makes any difference, I'm going to use Roxio Easy CD & DVD Burner 6.

 

None of them. Those files are suitable only for DVDs. CD and DVD discs are completely different and aren't interchangeable. It isn't just the amount of data it will hold, they are also made of different materials and the information is stored and read differently. I use Nero and have never used Roxio. There should be an option to import video files and burn as a DVD Video or Video CD disc, though.
