Best DVD ripper to Divx, XVid, ipod, etc.

Please help a newbie. I have done alot of research but i am overwhelmed.

What is a reliable DVD to DivX, Xvid, and ipod (if possible) ripper?

It can be shareware, but i prefer freeware. I am running on XP.
