Best file format/type (not pdf) to read books on IPOD via 'iBooks' APP?

    I have a few ebook pdfs, however they are too small to read. I have Calibre software to convert the files, what file type is best suited??

    Also, are there any ebook files which you can edit (cut n paste) extracts to another file??
