Agree with the above poster. As far as computer software, one size does not fit all! What works fine for me may cause your computer to slow up and you would hate it.

AntiVirus: I use AVG 7.5 but support is ending 31st August! I still haven't decided if I want to use AVG * (which is no longer just an antivirus), AVast, AntiVir or Clam for Windows <sigh>

AntiSpyware: I run SpywareBlaster then in real time on one computer I run CounterSpy, on another VIPRE (both are $$$ programs) and on a third SuperAntiSpyware free (which isn't real time monitoring)

Firewall: I sit behind a router with a hardware firewall but I also run an old version of ZoneAlarm free
The current products that have good versions and bad versions are onlineArmor and Comodo

So do some googling and read about the pros and ons of each. Get confused then decide what you want to try. If it works well for you, keep it. if it doesn't, move on to something else.

As mentioned in earlier posts, personal choices and experiences play a big part in what we all use (and experiment with).

plodr, in the threads on their support forum staff say that AVG 7.5 will be supported the rest of the year. I know it says differently on AVG's official pages...

I have been using AVG 8 for about a month now and I have noticed a considerable slowdown which is why I am here looking for opinions on other good antivirus freeware.
