I have tried every distro I could find, and coming to Linux from Windows post Vista release I am still using PCLOS (Mandriva Based), have started using the MiniMe 2008 version after using the PCLOS 2007 version for about a year. Finally got the hang of a kernel upgrade with MiniMe, using Synaptic .
You can create a remaster CD/DVD of the Installed system as a backup, or to install on another system. There is also a TinyMe version available. Puppy 4 Live CD is ok for web surfing, w/seamonkey, and you can save sessions to a file to pick up where you left off without having to install.
