HL2, baby (as if my Avatar weren't clue enough).

Of course, I was a mega fan of HL. I'm the only person I know who's beaten the game on hard... without cheating.

I saw some demo's of Fable on german TV yesterday, with the head director guy commentating.. man that looks AWSOME.. the way you can change how good or evil you are, and take up quests that you want, wandering around, changing your clothes... and the graphics are very cool too.....

They havnt finished it yet tho... all the voiceovers are that of the programmers tee hee!!

I dunno if it was there, but there was another game i development about now by THQ about chinobl, i think, hell i cant remember what its called! But anyway, its really, really cool... and the recomended specs arnt that high either... about the same as UT2k3, which means i might actually be able to play it! Unlike what ive seen for HL2 for which my humble system will not be worthy!

They have their own graphics engine... X-Ray ... which IMHO is just as good if not better than the HL2 engine (i forget the codename..).. and put fantastic detail into their levels.
Coupled with great physics, (ragdoll and enviromental interactivity all built in... ) looks very promising... and the style of game is more RPG/FPS/Stratagy than just FPS, so will make for some interesting chalenges... But all this said, they are far from completing it and none of the storyline or detailed settings of levels have been released... from what i can tell anyway... so im hoping that the game itself will be as good if not better than the sum of its parts!

Not sure if they were in E3 or not, but they were on Giga Games last night ( www.giga.de )

In fact this thread is probably realy old! Hah, i just wanted to find out if anyone had said anything about fable really!

 

Gotta agree with chicken... HL2... no contest. If Half-Life was awarded "Game of the Year" when it came out 5 years ago, imagine what HL2 is gonna sell. I can't express to you the anticipation of HL2... and it's not just my anticipation... look at the polls! I still play Team Fortress, and would play Counter-Strike if I had a better connection... just can't get tired of that game.

 

Kind of a no brainer. Half Life 2 will blow everyone outta the water.

 

this is a tough one, HL2 looks very, very good and HALO2 does as well, it's just a matter of whichever one has more attention to detail.

Personally, HL2's 3D Engine is better than Doom3's imho as HL2 can deform on the fly and D3 has to have everything scripted.

but anyway.. HL2's 3D engine does kick major arse.. theyve got this whole new way of making textures on surfaces with normal maps, which react to light just the same if not better than bump mapping... but with less polygons... so they can have more stuff going on without killing your system with lighting shaders and stuff..

Halo2 looks fun too
