    Hey everybody!

I didn't know where else to make this thread so I started it in this section. Well anyways a lot of us are pc or parts deprived because we live around the same ole shops and visit the same ole websites looking for pcs or parts. Maybe we can all join forces and let eachother know what our favorite pc/parts shopping websites are. This way we can keep eachother informed and possibly even make majorgeeks.com grow even larger since we'll all be busy tuning up or building pcs... & having problems while doing so! lol.

Some of us are in search of good pcs/parts we can't find, or have found not to be in stock. This can be a very frustrating situation when you really want something you can't have. Hopefully we all get what we need and possibly find some new things while browsing.

I just have three rules for posting:

    1. Post the url website

    2. Give a short description of what you can find on the site

    3. Post the payment methods available for the site your listing

(this way we know what we can and can't buy)

Hope we all find what we need...

They offer basically anything to do with computers and electronics with some of the best prices and service around.

Credit cards, paypal, money orders, direct transfer from a bank account, and probably others.

    I shop here almost exclusively.

I shop from there all the time. I just bought a 19" Widescreen Digital LCD monitor for $129!!! There are rebates involved but they are very good about them. I used to go to the warehouse all the time when I lived in Chicago, but now I have to resort to ordering online. They have everything you would want, including computer parts, TV's, cell phones, GPS sysems. The only thing they dont have a huge selection of is software.

This has to be the best site that I have found to buy a new computer. The site includes testimonials and reviews from PC Magazine, Computer Shopper, and CPU Magazine just to name a few. I will admit that they are pricey, but from what I gather, it is well worth the price. All of them are "hyper-clocked" to be stable.

I second this site, superstar - I have bought tons of stuff from them and have always been satisfied. They are good on RMA's as well. They are based in Houston, Texas, and have a warehouse you can go to if you happen to live close. Depending on the size of the order you can get free stuff also - it's usually something small, like a generic case fan or the like - but it's free.

I built my main PC out of parts bought from this outfit.

BEWARE OF THE TIGER (particularly)when its the Direct.com
    I ordered two ULT30215 Ultra 512MB PC3200 DDR 400MHz *CL3 (*or so I thought) mem sticks from TIGERDIRECT.COM:

    ord#2018350 placed in June 2005
    1-*ULT30215 Ultra 512MB PC3200 DDR 400MHz CL3 $50.41
    Along with a barebones system.
*(this one is not CL3 it has a label on it stating it is CL2.5)

    ord.#I7168702 placed Jan. 2007
    1-ULT30215 Ultra 512MB PC3200 DDR 400MHz CL3 $54.99

These two memory sticks I expected to be exact matches, and boost my ram to 1GB. However when I went to install the new memory, I found that the memory already in my PC (from ord#2018350 ) was not CL3 as stated on the order, but was actually CL2.5. The difference being the CL2.5 has sixteen 32MB chips on it (8 chips on each side); and the newer memory the CL3 has but eight 64MB chips (8 chips on one side). When both are in my PC, my PC only sees the two sticks as 512MB of ram.
Both mem sticks are good, and all my MOBO memory banks are good. I tested each stick individually by walking each one thru each memory bank one at a time. Each time my PC booted up I saw 512MB of ram by right clicking on "My Computer" then clicking on "Properties".
Of course I discover this after I started the rebate process assuming both were exact matches (you know how those rebates work, you better have them in on time and correct dot every i and cross every T or else no rebate) so I cut the UPC barcodes off the packages.

I called TIGERDIRECT.COM only thing I got from them was,
    "Sorry!
    Incompatible memory?
You want to RMA the memory?".

    Contact them again get an RMA no. and they send me a replacement I think they are shipping ULTRA 512MB DDR 400Mhz PC3200 CL2.5;
I receive Corsair 512MB DDR 400Mhz PC3200 CL2.5, every one should know you don’t mix mem sticks by different manufactures.
Called back still trying to resolve the problem finally got someone who realized what I needed. He Jerry seemed to be working diligently to resolve my problem. Before the isssue was resolved we were disconnected after fifteen minutes or so on the phone.
Called back couldn’t contact last representative, got someone else go thru whole scenario again, just to get another RMA no. to replace the CORSAIR 512MB DDR 400Mhz PC3200 CL2.5. This time they wanted to send me Centurion or some other brand of mem. Got so fed up decided just to send all the crap back.
This took 6 or 7 phone calls and had to go thru the 5-10 min wait each call.
Now if I RMA the product I'll be responsible for at least a 15% restocking fee of the full amount $54.99 plus the shipping charges both ways. All because TIGERDIRECT.COM sold me a product either mislabled by them or the manufacturer (Ultra).
Beware of what you order from TIGERDIRECT.COM, good prices as long as you get what you ordered. I did send an email to ULTRA not sure what to expect from them.
Not only trouble I had with Tiger order E1531928 was advertised as Poloroid package of 10 10X CD-RW discs they sent me Promedia most of them I have a problem with neither my CD/DVD burner or CD burners recognize the format on most of them; each device is in a different PC.
Not too happy with ULTRA either, the 500W power supply from that barebones system has already had to be replaced. ULTRA did replace it free of charge (except for the shipping charges one way).
    Very Displeased!

That looks like a good place though they don't seem to have too much stock IMO. I bought my AMD64 rig parts at NCIX.com and got an immediate relief of provincial sales tax worth %7 (Quebec) I also got my 7600GT along with my LG 194TWX LCD screen from TigerDirect. A lot of my decisions are based on the shipping costs when all else is equal. I'll have a better look at them tomorrow. Thanks Mada_Milty
