Best PC Recommendations?

A friend is wanting to buy a new pc for his wife for Christmas. Does anyone have any suggestions with regards to a good brand pc (already fully loaded) on the market right now? I would like him to avoid Dell, as I've had prior problems with their products. His wife will be doing mostly photo editing and also some home business stuff, as in invoicing. I know some of this may be "software" related, but I just need an idea about pc hardware brands. Also, is newegg.com or tiger direct online the best places to look for good deals; or should he shop locally as in circuit city, best buy, or walmart? Bit on the expensive side though , but it's the best of the best.

 

HP actually has some good stuff, and Dell has gotten MUCH better recently in terms of quality and reliability. Unless u wanna build it yourself, I would personally go with Dell, even though they used to have a bad reputation which has carried over unnecessarilly

 

Visit your local independent PC store; you know, the one that's been in town for like 12 years with the same 2 guys. These guys will bend over backward to build your friend the best possible PC for his budget, and you'll get the benefit of local tech support. When you have a PC problem, would you rather call someone in India or Bangladesh? Or someone down the street? Plus, your money stays in the local economy, and feeds local people, instead of being added to an already bloated multi-national corporations bank account.... Sorry... I didn't mean to rant
