Best Photo Repair Software

I am looking to recover a few albums off an old hard-drive and get as many of the photos back as possible. I have already made passes with several different recovery softwares so getting the images is not an issue. However I would really like to repair the ones that are corrupted as well.

So what would be the best software to use to repair corrupted image files. I am dealing predominantly in jpeg here because that is what the phones we took the photos with saved them as.

 

What does "corrupted" mean? Faded colors? Half the photo missing or butched?

 

Mostly file headers. Some are data corruption and those i obviously cant do much about. Basically windows photo viewer acts as if it isnt an image file.

 

I supposed I've been blessed with never encountering corrupted jpg files. So, no direct experience whatsoever, but there are apps that claim to repair jpg files. Here's one sample website.

Finally, always make backup's of ALL your data files - you never know when they can get corrupted...

 

Thanks guys, I have irfanview already, the problem isnt a format issue. This is an old drive with lots of overwrites etc. I just want to get as much data back as possible. Currently experimenting with a gap carving recovery system to try to recombine bifragmented data, more than anything I mainly need something that specifically focuses on file header repair.

 

Yeah, this was my wife's old laptop, we found it in the top of a closet. I'm just playing around mainly, but there are some photos of our deceased daughter on it which is why i want to scrape the barrel so to speak.
