Best Procedure For Major Uninstall/Install Session

Recently acquired a Laptop which is loaded with progams I want to uninstall, a couple of gigs worth at least. After that I want to a install number of new programs.

What is the best approach to this, bearing registry consistency particularly in mind? Should I defrag the HD and registry after each un/install, or do it all and then defrag just once? Or...?

Hmm, all the Geeks must be on vacation, or something.

 

If you care not for any data or programs on the aquired lappy.....format and clean install!

Its the best way to go IMHO! (everything will run superfast again)

If you would rather not....uninstall everything via 'add/remove programs', then run CCleaner before installing new programs.
After new program installs are done...defrag!

Of all my computing years, one thing i take home is to run your system lean....install only what you need!

filling your system with uneeded crap slows the whole show down!

Exactly, that's the whole point here.

Going the Add/Remove route,would CCleaner be enough to clean and defrag the registry comprehensively? I was thinking of Regseeker and something like WinASO RegDefrag.
