Best Programs to Crop, Resize Photos?

    I need to work on some photos I have saved on my computer. This is the first time I've done this, and the only thing I really have is the basic Paint that comes with Windows. What freeware programs would you recommend? From this site, I've read about VSO Image resizer, Ultimate Paint, Picasa2, Pivi, Photoplus, Photofiltre, Irfan View, ImRe, HighDef Picture Album, and Faststone. I'm also on slow dial-up if that matters.
    Any suggestions?

    Fastone is a great one, small and has some nice neat xtras, also fastone imageresizer works like a charm.
    Very nice App's recomended to me from here about 7 months ago
