You beat me to it!:p:wave It'll be interesting to see how these perform but mind you there will be :banghead.:-D Too bad I can't get one until Aug. or so but I can wait.:) It's too hot now with my current cards anyways so I have to shut down for half a day.

Thanks for the heads up BILL.:cool
I think I'll try this out on one of my cards and leave the other one on the GPU2 client and see what the difference is. I've got 2 identical GTX260-216 and it will be interesting to see how the new client performs.

Well i installed the 470s but after 2 hours they are unable to get work packet ??

This is what the PC looks like now, it certainly is a bit crowded in there.

I have got them folding now and early results look good.

They are running in SLi mode but i am sure i read somewhere that they would produce better running as two single cards with two client but i have no idea how to do that but we will see how they perform after a couple of days and then maybe i will do some research on folding two cards.

You're right about not needing SLI, and each 470 should get you some 12K. Apparently they're very hungry and hot cards. It's a very small data set so far but you're on your way to 11K today and as you said, run it for a couple of days.

Quick and dirty multi GPU setup: Have as many separate folders as GPU's, call them GPU 0 and GPU 1, when you make you're shortcut it should read 'client.xxx.exe -gpu 0 -verbosity 9', do the same for the other card, except change -gpu 0 to -gpu 1. Make sure you create the shortcut from the corresponding folder.

    Thanks Augie
As i said i will give it a couple of days, it's going like a train at the moment but if i can find an idiot proof guide on how to set up two individual cards it is a simple job to pull the SLi bridge off.

Edit I just got a guide from Panther on the folding forum.

People are saying that the the 2XX cards do quite poorly w/GPU3, %20 to %30 decline in PPD and they have reverted back to GPU2. Still not as good as a pair of 285's. Mind you, they are in the earliest of stages for this client. . You got a 4XX then run with it!:drool

It would seem that to get both cards folding separately i need to make or buy a VGA dummy plug and at the moment i do not have any resistors to make one.

Tomorrow i am back in hospital to have some pins and screws removed from my left leg ( i think they are going rusty :-D) so for a couple of weeks i am going to be laid up and unable to get out to buy said articles.

I am going to have to be satisfied with the present performance for a while.
