Beta? what is it

Beta's as mentioned are pre-release software and can depending on what beta stage they are at be very buggy or work fine, most if not all software goes through beta stages, and they need to do this as no software company can realistically account for all PC setups in hardware and software, so the longer they are beta tested the more likely with feedback from users they can be streamlines and become very stable.

One case in point is Googles Gmail is still beta and has been since March 2004, so over 4 and a 1/2 years old is Gmail and one of the oldest betas around, however I personally treat all software as beta as you cannot as I mentioned account for all users PC setups so conflicts and issues, crashes etc happen.

TBH, depending on what software you are talking about many betas work fine, I run loads and have from major to no issues with most, if one has a major issue then uninstall it, report the issue to the software developer and await an update.
